Slug Generator

Turn titles into URL-friendly slugs.

About this tool

A slug is the human-readable part of a URL — the bit after the domain that identifies a page, like "free-json-formatter" in example.com/tools/free-json-formatter. Clean slugs are lowercase, hyphen-separated, and free of symbols, which makes them better for SEO and easier for people to read, remember, and share. Paste your title and press Run. The generator lowercases the text, strips accents, replaces spaces and symbols with hyphens, collapses repeated dashes, and trims leading and trailing dashes. The result is a tidy permalink-ready string. It runs entirely in your browser, so draft titles stay private. Who needs it? Bloggers and CMS users creating post URLs, documentation authors naming pages, e-commerce managers building product links, and anyone automating permalink generation. A good slug is short, descriptive, and contains the target keyword — "how-to-bake-sourdough" beats "post-123". A couple of honest notes: slugify removes most punctuation on purpose, and very long titles should be trimmed to the meaningful part for the best URLs. Some platforms have their own slug rules (length caps, reserved words); treat the output as a strong default to adapt. For AdSense, write original copy explaining what a slug is, why it matters for SEO, show 3-4 before/after examples, and answer a short FAQ. Useful, original pages are the principle behind this toolbox and the reason it is built to rank and to pass review. The other text tools here handle the surrounding cleanup.
