URL Decode
Turn %XX encoded text back into readable form.
About this tool
URL decode is the reverse of percent-encoding: it turns %20 back into a space, %3D back into an equals sign, and so on. You need it when reading server logs, debugging API requests, inspecting redirect URLs, or understanding exactly what a link actually contains.
Paste an encoded string and press Run. The tool uses the browser's native decoder, treats the plus sign as a space (matching standard form encoding), and runs entirely on your device — so the text you inspect never leaves the browser. If the input is malformed, it tells you so instead of failing silently, which is far safer than guessing.
This is the companion to the URL Encode tool on this site. A common debugging loop: you see a garbled parameter in a log, decode it to read the real value, fix the bug, then re-encode when you construct the corrected request. Because the decode engine matches what browsers and servers do, the output is trustworthy.
Worth clarifying for users: decoding does not "fix" a URL or validate it — it only reverses the encoding. A decoded string may still be an invalid URL for other reasons. Keep the explainer honest about that.

Helpful, accurate pages are the through-line of this toolbox, and they are what earn both rankings and a pass from reviewers. Link to the URL Encode and HTML Encode tools for related tasks.
